You can automatically deploy Printix Client for Mac with Microsoft Intune on Azure. You need to use Microsoft Intune App Wrapping Tool for Mac (IntuneAppUtil) to convert the installation pkg file into the intunemac format.

Install Microsoft Intune App Wrapping Tool for Mac

  1. On a Mac computer open a browser window and enter: https://github.com/msintuneappsdk/intune-app-wrapping-tool-mac
  2. Select Clone or Download.
  3. Open Downloads, for example from the Dock at the bottom of the screen.
  4. Double-click intune-app-wrapping-tool-mac-master.
  5. Copy the files to a folder.

Download the Printix Client for macOS

  1. Open the Software page.
  2. Select Download Printix Client.
  3. Open Downloads, for example from the Dock at the bottom of the screen.
  4. Double-click CLIENT_{home}_{id}.DMG.
    After a few seconds the Printix Client dialog appears.
  5. Copy the cardboard box icon (Printix Client.pkg) to the folder where you copied the IntuneAppUtil files (step 5).
  6. In the folder you MUST rename .pkg file, so it does not contain spaces (PrintixClient.pkg) and then create a new folder and name it for example: pixintune
  7. Start a Terminal window.
  8. Use the cd command to change to the folder.
  9. Type: ./IntuneAppUtil -c PrintixClient.pkg -o pixintune and press Enter.
  10. Output is written to: pixintune/PrintixClient.pkg.intunemac

Publish Printix Client for Mac in Microsoft Intune

  1. Open a new browser window and sign into the Microsoft Azure (portal.azure.com), using your work account credentials.
  2. Select All Services, scroll to Intune and select Intune.
  3. On the Microsoft Intune blade, select Client apps.
  4. On the Client apps blade, select Apps.
  5. On the Client apps – Apps blade, select Add.
  6. On the Add app blade:
    • As App type select Line-of-business app.
    • Select Select file to select App package file.
  1. On the App package file blade:
    • Select Select file and select the PrintixClient.pkg.intunemac file you created in step 15.
  1. Select OK.
  2. Select Configure to configure App information.
  1. On the App information blade:
    • As Name enter PrintixClient.pkg.
    • As Description enter Printix Client.
    • As Publisher enter Printix.
    • As Minimum operating system select OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.
    • For Ignore app version select Yes as the Printix Client automatically updates to the latest version.
    • As Category select Other Apps.
    • For Display this as a featured app in the Company Portal select No.
    • In Information URL optionally enter https://printix.net.
    • In Privacy URL optionally enter https://printix.net/privacy
    • In Developer optionally enter Printix.
    • In Owner optionally enter Printix.
    • In Notes optionally enter any notes you would like to associate with this app.
    • Optional Logo. Select Select image to select for example an image with the Printix logo.
  1. Select OK.
  2. On the Add app blade select Add to upload to Intune.
    If the upload fails, try to check your license for Microsoft Intune.

Deploy Printix Client for Mac to the users who needs it

  1. On the Microsoft Intune blade, select Client apps.
  2. On the Client apps blade, select Apps.
  3. On the Client apps – Apps blade, select Printix Client macOS line-of business app.
  4. On the Printix Client blade, select Assignments.
  5. On the Printix Client – Assignments blade, select Add group.
  6. As Assignment type select Required.
  7. Select Included Groups to select groups.
  8. Select the Azure AD groups to which you want to assign Printix Client.
  9. Select OK.
