A Konica Minolta field service engineer need to be involved to enable use of card reader. Connect the card reader directly to the external USB port located at the rear next to the network port. It may be necessary to remove the right-rear cover to access the USB port. The below card readers are supported, but requires installation of a driver.

Limitations with card reader support

Existing installations with Printix Go Konica Minolta need to update to the released Printix Go Konica Minolta version 1.1.0.0 or later. Limitations:

  • It is not possible to detect if a card reader has been connected or disconnected. We have been unsuccesful at using the OpenAPI functions for this. As a consequence:
    • The Printer properties page will not show that a card reader is connected.
    • The Sign in method in the printer’s Go configuration should be set to either Card or Card or ID code. The method Select automatically will not detect card reader.
    • The History tab on the Print properties page will however include an entry about the installed card reader driver right after a Verify sign in profile is performed.
Example: Card reader driver found: HID Global, OMNIKEY 5427CK 0000000000000000 1.4.0Lx (SUCCESS)
    • It may be necessary to restart the printer whenever a card reader is connected or disconnected.
  • To Sign out you should use the printer’s Access button. The method of presenting card to the printer’s card reader to sign out is not recommended, as the flow can not detect if the card belongs to perhaps an already signed in user.

How to get the printer into Service Mode

  1. If Printix Go is installed you first need to sign in to Printix.
  2. Select Counter (button in the top left, to the left of Accessibility).
    • How to get to the Counter button may vary depending on model. On the i Series MFPs, the user can select the Settings icon. On other models you may have to select the Utility icon and then the Counter icon will appear.
  1. Select Display keypad.
  2. Press the Stop (red button).
  3. On the keypad type: 00 (zero zero).
  4. Press the Stop (red button).
  5. On the keypad type: 01 (zero one).
  6. Enter Password.
  7. Select END (button is in the top right corner of the screen).

Install card reader driver (in Service mode)

  1. Insert USB key with the lodable driver matching the card reader.
    • Contact your Konica Minolta field service engineer to get the driver. The driver may be printer firmware dependent.
  1. Get the printer into service mode.
  2. Select System 2.
  3. Select Driver Install (on screen 2/3).
    • Only one driver can be installed. If there is already a driver for another card reader, then you need to uninstall that first.
  1. Select Install.
  2. Select Loadable Driver.
  3. When asked turn the main switch off and on to restart the printer.
  4. Proceed to Enable card reader.

Uninstall card reader driver (in Service mode)

Before you uninstall card reader you should Disable card reader.

  1. Get the printer into service mode.
  2. Select System 2.
  3. Select Driver Install (on screen 2/3).
  4. Select Uninstall.
  5. Select Card.
  6. When asked turn the main switch off and on to restart the printer.

Disable external keyboard

If a keyboard (KBD) emulating card reader is used (and the card reader driver is Unspecified, Keyboard Emulation Card Reader) and External keyboard is allowed, then if copy screen is open the Copies field will get populated with card data if during this time the card is presented to the card reader. To resolve this disable external keyboard.

  1. Open the printer’s web page and Login as Administrator.
  2. Select Security in the main menu.
  3. Select USB Connection Permission setting and change External Keyboard from Allow to Restrict.
  4. Select OK.
